This unusually shaped vase or flower bowl is unmarked, but probably French. The decoration has been most delicately painted in grey on a pale pink ground. On the front are three cherubs holding doves and on each end is a bearded face nestling in feathers. On the reverse is a monogram- M P- surrounded by flowers, foliage and two doves. The piece rests on four dark grey and gilt feet. It stands 182 mm (7.25 inches) high, is 362 mm (14.25 inches) long and 162 mm (6.5 inches) wide...

Made in Europe around 1890, this very pretty lidded porcelain scent bottle is encrusted with hundreds of flowers-there are 48 on the lid alone! Each one of these flowers were applied by hand and then painted with a dark centre and a pale pink surround which gives the whole piece a very delicate pink hue. It stands 182 mm (7.25 inches) high and has a diameter of 97 mm (3.75 inches)...

This late nineteenth century glazed pottery wall plaque has been made in the style of Claude Michel (1738-1814), known as Clodion, a French sculptor in the Rococo style. The raised decoration is of a female satyr who is holding a bunch of grapes in her right hand, and a young male satyr, both seated on a rocky outcrop. It is glazed in a slightly irridescent turquoise glaze and marked with the name Clodion impressed into the front...

This Samson of Paris tea canister is decorated with faux armorial crest on one side and on the other with a spray of flowers. The lid is also decorated with a floral spray. The decoration of the piece is meant to resemble Chinese export ware of over a century before. The canister stands 152 mm (6 inches) high and has a diameter at the shoulder of 110 mm (4.25 inches). The condition is very good apart from a firing crack ex-factory that has been partially filled in the factory. C1890.

This mock Chinese export ware armorial plate was made by Samson of Paris in the period 1890-1910. It is decorated to the centre with, what purports to be, the armorial, or family crest, of the Boyd family. This is surrounded with hand painted flowers and raised slip decoration. It is unmarked, but examples are shown in plates 54-7 of "Godden's Guide to European Porcelain". It measures 234 mm (9.25 inches) in diameter. The condition is very good.

The raised decoration on this impressive majolica jardiniere was formed in separate moulds and then applied by hand. This is called sprigging. After these sprigs were fired onto the body they were then glazed with the majolica glazes. Possibly French, it carries the number 2016 incised into the base, and a small impressed mark. I have been unable to attribute it to a maker. The jardiniere stands 395 mm (15.5 inches) high and has a diameter of 440 mm (17.5 inches)...

With a tap at both ends, this very attractive majolica spirit barrel would have once stood on a stand and held two different spirits. Its rather more subtle majolica palette, indicates to me that this piece is of European manufacture. The only mark is an impressed B, but I have been unable to attribute it to any one maker. The length is 153 mm (6 inches) and it measures 127 mm (5 inches) in diameter. It is in very good condition apart from the loss of one of its pewter taps and the stand. C1890.

This hand painted pottery wall charger by Gien, is decorated with a central faux armorial surrounded by dragons, a merman and a mermaid, all inside the outer rim decorated with a continuous run of leaves. It measures 310mm in diameter. The condition is very good overall, but it does have some crazing and two small marks on the rim from the final firing. C1895.

This large, very colourful, Gien Faience, or majolica jardiniere measures 510mm in length, is 295mm wide and stands 180mm high. Coloured by hand, it is in very, very good condition. It does have some scratches on the inside, as you would expect, where pots etc. have stood over the last 145 years, but nothing of any great concern. There is also a small, shallow star crack to the base, as shown in the photo of the mark, but it doesn't come through to the inside...
