This is a very pretty English porcelain boat shaped inkstand. The exterior is coloured an apple green, whilst the interior is decorated with sprays of hand painted flowers, all sitting on a leaf moulded and ribbed base which is enhanced with gilding. It would have sat on a lady's desk with the two tubes holding her quills or pens, and the ink residing in the lidded liner inserted into the round hole. Unfortunately the liner and lid are now missing. The length is 117 mm (4.5 inches), the width 57 mm (2.25 inches) and it stands 82 mm (3.5 inches). The gilding to the rim has suffered some loss and there is a small chip to one end. C 1800.
