Pinder, Bourne & Co. hand coloured and gilded sauce tureen on stand
Please refer to our stock # 1155 when inquiring.
We have included this Pinder, Bourne & Co. sauce tureen on stand in the Royal Doulton page as Doulton had purchased Pinder, Bourne in 1878 and this piece is dated September 1881. This factory later became Doulton Burslem. The lid of this attractive sauce tureen is decorated with a hand coloured printed scene of a boy lying in a field playing a flute, with two butterflies flying above him. The body is decorated by gilding and a printed pattern, whilst the stand has half a dozen coloured butterflies and insects. Its condition is very good, with some rubbing of the gilding, a small chip to the inside rim and a very minor chip to one handle. The overall height (including the stand) is 138 mm (5.5 inches) with the stand being 230 mm (9 inches) long and 152 mm (6 inches) wide.
