Offered is a lovely 18th Century Japanese porcelain ovoid dish in a molded petaled form, with a central scene of a landscape painted in underglaze blue. To the reverse are cloud decorations and a mark in the form of a running fuku. This piece 22.1 cm at its widest, and weighs about 468 grams. The porcelain has a slightly celadon cast, but is more white than the photos might suggest, despite the natural light. This dish is in good condition overall, with a few burn spots and firing faults, most prominently near the fuku mark. This piece dates to about 1760-90, and a very similar dish can be found in Shibata IV, Item 283 (see last picture). I have a second dish in this form if a pair is desired. All in all a fine example of an interesting form!
