Thomas R. Curtin (American, 1899-1977) oil on canvas landscape painting of a Stream in Winter. Size: 30 inches x 36 inches. Excellent condition. Circa 1950s-60s. Signed lower left. Thomas Curtin was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and painted in Cape Ann, Maine and then from 1943 in Vermont where he is known for his landscape paintings, and most especially for his winter scenes. He was friends with his contemporaries, John Carlson, Emile Gruppe and Aldro Hibbard. He studied at the prestigious National Academy of Design and the Art Students League, both in New York City.
