Eric Tobin landscape painting, titled Winter Haven. Oil on canvas. Painted in 2014. Size: 24 inches x 30 inches. Signed in lower right and signed and titled on the reverse. In this winter view, maple trees flanking a winter country road cast their shadows on the newly fallen snow and point the way to the red barn beyond. This farm is in Kent Corners in Calais, Vermont. Offered in a silvered wood frame. Eric Tobin is a contemporary Vermont landscape artist. He resides in the northern part of the state, near Johnson, VT. Tobin was greatly influenced by the Vermont painter, Thomas Curtin, whom Tobin knew from his childhood and from whom he received his first set of paints. Tobin paints entirely 'en plain air,' or outdoors while actually viewing his scene. Tobin is largely self-taught, but did receive one-on-one instruction from Fred M. Hines, a marine artist in Maine who later moved to Johnson, Vermont.
