An attractive American Chippendale period slant front desk in yellow birch, with pine secondary wood. Circa 1775-1790. Size: 39.25 inches wide x 19.75 inches deep x 40.5 inches ht. The desk has four graduated drawers with molded lips, supported on an ogee bracket base. The fitted interior features a combination of pigeon holes and drawers arranged around a central prospect door, which conceals a hidden drawer. Probably of a New England origin. Retaining the original brass bail handles. Single board top with dovetails. Some repairs to feet. Working locks with key.
