Extremely rare large porcelain bowl with blue decoration on white background representing outside flowers and foliage surmounted by a geometric design near the rim and, inside, three concentric designs, first, in the center, a phoenix amidst flowers, then on the sides the same flower design than outside and, near the rim, a geometric design. Reign mark painted outside in the middle of the geometric design near the rim. Slightly blue glazing with some ferruginous impurities, with an "orange peel" surface. All these points are characteristics of the period when the bowl was made. China, Ming Dynasty, Tian Shun mark and period (1457-1464). Dimensions: height: 4 1/16" (10,3 cm), diameter: 10" (25,4 cm). Perfect condition. Ex. old French collection.
