Flint and tinder pouch, in the shape of an envelope made of leather with a heavy steel lower edge. A bronze rectangular loop on top, beautifully decorated with a monster at its center framed by water dragons ("makara") on each side, is meant to allow suspension from the owner's belt. Lavish silver decoration with a coral in the middle. Tibet, 18th century. Length: 4" (10,2 cm). Height: 3 1/4" (8,3 cm). Obvious signs of age, wear and use, otherwise very good condition. A rather scarce object nowadays. Provenance: Old French collection.
