A large intriguing 19th C. black cloth doll. She is 22" tall with an embroidered face, pinched raised nose, bead eyes backed with white floss. Her mouth has a slight indication of a smile. Her hair is lambs wool. She has simple rounded off hands and feet. She has an hour glass figure with a very broad chest and very wide hips. She is firmly stuffed with cotton. She has on a dress that probably is original. The bodice is shredding so at some point a blouse has been put over the top. She has several layers of aprons and then the dress , petticoat and bloomer. She is all stockinette and I have not undressed her. She feels and looks all original. She is circa 1880 and a fine example of an early homemade black doll.
