a very early cloth doll made with fine linen that looks like homespun linen. She has a very detailed stitched face with eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth and chin. Her golden yellow twisted floss hair is embroidered all over her head in a wonderful pattern. She is very firmly stuffed with cotton. She is jointed at her shoulders, elbows, wrists (hardly ever see this), hips knees and ankles. Her body is hour glass shaped with very wide hips. She has on an early calico dress with bloomers underneath and a white apron over the dress. She has a separation of the seam at the side of her neck. This isn't interfering with the stability of her neck and could be pulled together and stitched. She is 18" tall and is circa 1860-80. She is a very nice and very early cloth doll with a great shaped head and lots of detail in every respect.
