This painted face girl has always worn a bonnet. How do I know, she has the whitest complexion. She has an oil panted face neck and shoulders. She is painted with an unschooled hand but it is done very nicely. She has brown wool fabric hair that has been pinned on. It is very nicely done so I didn't take it off but it looks like it will come off. She has a very well constructed cloth body made by a good seamstress. She has bent arms with hands that are really nicely done. She has on shoes and red socks. I didn't take them off because they never look right when I try to put them back on. Her feet are there. She sits nicely. Her red calico dress has some ink stains and some thinning in places. She is 25" tall and I am told she has been published in one of the doll books but I haven't seen it. She is a really nice example of a painted face doll made in the 1870's
