This is a wonderful all original painted face cloth doll. Her face is oil painted with a flare so the maker had some real talent. The paint is original and shows crackle on the paint surface. Her head is the style that the seam goes ear to ear and the top of the head is gathered to give fulness to the back of the head. I have seen this before but it isn't a common technique and is a very nice way to accomplish a more rounded head. She has a forced sit but she will sit. She is all hand sewn as are her dress, petticoat and bloomers. She is wearing black socks and I think at one point she had shoes. She is 16" tall and is circa 1880-90. I feel she may have never been undressed. I unbuttoned her dress but I just don't want to disrupt her. I don't feel there is anything but a great all original doll and clothes under there.
