Like dolls we used to find in the 1970's and 80's with clothes you know had been taken off and on so many times that who knows what is original anymore, this is what I really like. The whimsical way a child would think what looks the very best on her doll. Can you see her with hands on her hips and saying, Yes you look great you are ready for the tea party. The sepia ink face is charming, her potato shaped head can bring on a smile to most of us. She has layers of clothes, I love the blouse with cloth covered buttons and hand done button holes executed with the utmost of skill. She is made with fine linen and is all hand sewn. She is hard as a rock, stuffed with rags, but feels good in your hand. She is fully jointed and sits easily. Her right hand is replaced from the elbow down, the other is original but very fragile. I just looked down and see I almost forgot to mention, she is missing one shoe and sock. This white doll is the type I like to find, history of children and playing written all over them. She is 18" tall and circa 1870-80.
