This splendid oil on board renders a charming cape cod house overlooking the ocean. There is a road passing to its front. It is all too serene and peaceful. Given the calmness of the waves, speculate that the ocean is the Pacific. It is signed E Harkins in the lower left. Its simplicity and unpretentiousness reminds me of Edward Hopper's or Andrew Wyeth's work...

A fine oil on canvas by Leo Jansen (American 1930-1980) whose career is best noted for his nudes and the many paintings of Playmates of the Month for Playboy magazine during the 1960s and 70s. His reputation earned many commissions from then-reigning stars such as Raquel Welch and Stephanie Powers.

Painted with dark earthy tones with sophisticated interpretation of pond. Signed lower left, with title and signature on matting upon which painting is mounted. An early 20th century formal portrait of a lady painted by one of the leading portraitists of that century, Stanislav Rembski (1896-1998). A native of Poland, Rembski immigrated to the United States in the 1920s, working first in Brooklyn Heights, then Baltimore around 1940.

His paintings are in museum and private collections world wide, having been commissioned by Eleanor Roosevelt to paint a posthumous portrait of her husband, and of Woodrow Wilson...
