A very fine painting of a rural homestead with miles of quiet and seclusion around. There appears to be a bend in the road proving access to the house, but without visitors, the owner could feast his eyes on the surrounding beauty of the mountains, woods, and the open fields.
The style is slightly naive expressionism - vivid colors with sweet charm.
The oil on board painting is signed but obscured by the framing. However, using the notes on the back, I conclude that the artist is Sylvia Hamblin who created the painting in 1962 as a Mother's Day gift for her mother.
The framing is good quality but a little rough after 60 years, but is serviceable. The painting itself is in excellent condition.
25" x 21" framed (approximately)
