Early 19th Century Pennsylvania German Birth Baptism Fraktur, Framed
Early 19th Century Pennsylvania German Hand Colored Birth Baptism Taufscheine/Fraktur, Framed
A wonderful hand colored Pennsylvania German fraktur or Taufscheine from Berks county. I believe that the subject is Jeremias Keber born or baptized October 30, 1825.
The certificate is hand colored in vivid reds, greens, yellows, depicting angels, birds and cherubim. It has a joyful antique disposition. It is an earlier example of the art form which began after the Revolution War. Excellent for genealogy.
The condition is very good - not perfect. There is slight toning on the left for about 5 inches near the frame. There is either creasing or crinkling near the top and the upper center. The frame is a good match for the fraktur but needs a furniture marker in the upper left to clean up the light scratches.
