A beautiful covered serving dish with handles decorated in the Millais pattern by S. Hancock and Sons of England, made around 1893 or so.

This hard to find pattern and dish are decorated with vines and flowers with accented leaves in cobalt blue with hand applied gilding. It has a notch for a ladle. The edges are slightly scalloped and gilded; the lid is domed to which is applied a gilded cobalt handle. The end handles are surrounded by molded embellishments. The pedestal base gives the dish lift.

The underside is marked with the maker's back stamp.

These lovely English serving containers can be mixed and matched with complementary patterns as finding a full service set would be nigh unto impossible.

This serving bowl has some production defects such as small grit and glaze bubbles and interior has a few random discolored spots.
