An oversized albumen photograph of the Grand Canal in Venice with gondolas and delicate hand tinting. Image 16 ½ inches (42 cm) tall, 21 inches (53 cm) wide. Frame 22 ¼ inches (56 cm) tall, 26 ½ inches (67 cm) wide. The photograph is slightly smaller than the card on which is mounted.

Condition: there is a considerable fade in the center of the image from the wooden backboard or the gap between the boards. The right side above the buildings on the far right some discoloration...

An oversize albumen photograph of a carriage on a narrow bridge with the rising spray from Niagara Falls visible in the distance. I am reasonably confident that this a bridge connecting Goat Island to the river bank on the American side or possibly a bridge connecting Goat Island to one of the Three Sisters. It was likely taken and printed by George Barker, though no title or name is on either the front of the image or on the back of the mount...

A sepia toned silver print of a Bedouin shepherd with his flock grazing on sparsely covered ground below a hill. In the lower right corner is the blind stamp, “American Colony/Jerusalem.” The original dates from around 1920 and this would appear to be a print of roughly that age. The Number 161 is stamped on the back. The photograph is 8 ¼ x 11 ¼ inches includes a thin margin.

Condition: excellent...

A vintage gelatin silver print of Oulah-Nails street in Biskra Algeria located on the back and the photographer Alexandre Bougault (1851-1917) identified with his blind stamp in the lower right corner. 10 7/8 x 8 5/8 inches (27.5 x 22 cm).

Condition; good except for bruised corners.

A vintage gelatin silver photograph of a gate and the street beyond with people beyond at the town of Sidi Okba, Algeria. Identified in ink on the back. Rene Prouho (1879-1970) blue back stamp in the upper left corner. 11 5/8 x 9 ½ inches (29.5 x 24 cm). Unmounted.

Condition; very good, though the corners are bruised.

I would guess it dates from the 1930’s.

An oversize albumen photograph of the exterior of the Hagia Sophia, Istanbul by the photographer Pascal Sebah. The view is taken from outside a stone wall pierced with grilled windows. The monumental structure rises behind the wall. Pascal Sebah (1823-1886) was born in Constantinople. His photographic studio there opened in 1857. In the lower left in the negative, “68. Mosquee St. Sophia” and lower right “P. Sebah.” The image is 10 ¼ x 13 1/8 inches (26 x 33 cm)...

A sepia toned silver print of Tipsco lake with Mount Rainer in the background in a textured white mat, simple blond wood frame and a brass plaque identifying the image as follows, “MT. RAINER – TIPSCO LAKE/ MT. RAINER NATIONAL PARK.” Out of the frame there is no identification of the photographer. Image 15 3/8 X 19 3/8 inches. Frame 23 X 25 7/8 inches.

Condition: examined out of the frame. The photograph is laid down on the backboard, but otherwise in excellent condition...

A large sepia toned silver print of Wizard Island in Crater Lake in a textured white mat, a simple light wood frame and a brass plaque inscribed, “CRATER LAKE – WIZARD ISLAND/ CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK.” No signature on the face of the photo and it has not been removed from what was probably the original frame and mat. Sight size image 15 X 19 inches. Frame 23 X 25 ¾ inches.,p. Condition: photo in excellent condition, probably glued down to the backing board...

The image is almost certainly a tinted salt print mounted between two pieces of glass and matted to appear similar to a daguerreotype. Most of the original paper seal is still on the glass, but where it is missing the edge of a piece of paper is visible between the pieces of glass. It is translucent when held to a strong light...

An interesting gold filled on silver (?) locket with an engine turned cover on either side lifting to reveal a close up daguerreotype of a well-dressed woman on one side and on the other side of the locket a well-dressed man. They both look to be around forty years old and perhaps since the locket has a stem and ring it was meant to be worn like a small pocket watch by a grown child of theirs. 1 ½ inches diameter, with the stem and ring an additional 5/8 inches long...

George Washington Wilson (Scottish, 1823-1893) was already a successful photographer with a large business in Aberdeen when he made a photographic journey to the Outer Hebrides in 1885...

An albumen photograph of the mountains Scuir-Uran and Scuir-an-Carnich rising behind what appears to be a stream that according to the caption in the negative feeds into Loch Duich in Ross-Shire. Loch Duich is a sea loch on the west coast of Scotland. The title includes the number 799 and the initials G.W.W. for George Washington Wilson (Scottish, 1823-1893). The photograph is 7 3/8 x 11 ½ inches (17.8 x 29.2 cm), the mat 14 x 17 inches (35.6 x 43.2 cm).

Albumen photograph of two Bedouin musicians seated in front of a backdrop with their string instruments. Numbered 613 and titled “Joueurs de violon Bedouins” in white in the negative and signed, “Bonfils.” The image is 8 ¾ x 11 inches (22.5 x 28 cm) mounted on card 11 x 13 ½ inches (28 x 34 ½ cm).

Condition; photo in good condition, though the contrast could be a little stronger. Mount discolored, some foxing and soiled along some edges.

An albumen photograph of the upper portion of the Taj Mahal in Agra, India fully laid down on cardboard stock. The blind stamp, “FRITH’S/SERIES” is in the lower left corner. The image is 6 3/8 (16 cm) by 8 ¼ (21 cm) inches. The card is 10 (25.5 cm) by 12 (30.5 cm) inches. In pencil on the back in the lower left is written, “3067 The Taj Agra India.” Francis Frith commissioned and bought from other photographers for his series.
