A hand colored aquatint titled at the bottom, “A VIEW OUSCOTTAH, FROM AN EADGAH.” Underneath the title is, “Sold & Published June 4. 1804, Edw.d Orme, His Majesty’s Printseller, 59. New Bond Street, London.” In the lower left, “lieu.t James Hunter Delin.” and in the lower right, “Harraden Aquatinta.” This plate, numbered 26 in the upper right corner, is from “Picturesque Scenery in the Kingdom of Mysore,” by James Hunter. A large faience shoe, lady’s high heel model, the white ground decorated with floral ropes, roses in bunches, and the toe resembling embroidery. The painting is the palate and tone typical of late 19th century Le Nove at their best. It is 4 5/8 inches (12 cm) tall, 8 5/8 inches (22 cm) long and 2 7/8 inches (7.5 cm) wide. On the bottom is the shooting star mark and there is no country of origin.

A set of six hand painted porcelain plates with floral bouquets in the well and a gold band around the edge. The mark of KPM with the initials and the scepter in underglaze blue was used from 1837 to 1844. The size would indicate that they are dessert plates, though they are deeper than most. They are 7 inches diameter (18 cm) and 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep.

Condition: excellent, no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Showing only some evidence of light use.

A powder blue ground cup with elaborate gilding and two reserved oval panels on opposite sides with a spray of European flowers. Unusual for Chinese Export porcelain the two panels are recess molded. Other examples of this period exist with molding in the body, this ground and elaborate gilding. The inspiration is European, probably German, perhaps Meissen. The cup is 2 inches (5 cm) tall and 3 ½ inches (9 cm) diameter.

An albumen photograph of the Swedish flagged Olga on the Nile river. The riverboats were known as dahabiya and typically travelled from Cairo upriver to either Luxor or Aswan on a forty or fifty day journey. Travel on one of these dahabiya was usually luxurious, for the times. The flag on the stern mast is that of Sweden, the one on the foremast is that of Egypt, then part of the Ottoman Empire. On the shore below the photographer is a man in the stern of a small boat and another boat to the far left with a large expanse of river dividing them from the bathing Ghats lined up on the far bank of the Ganges. The studio stamp for Thomas A. Rust (English, 1841-1904) is on the back. Also, on the back in pencil, “General view of Bathing Ghats Benares.” 8 1/8 x 10 7/8 inches (20.5 x 28 cm). Unmounted.

A sepia toned silver print of a Bedouin shepherd with his flock grazing on sparsely covered ground below a hill. In the lower right corner is the blind stamp, “American Colony/Jerusalem.” The original dates from around 1920 and this would appear to be a print of roughly that age. The Number 161 is stamped on the back. The photograph is 8 ¼ x 11 ¼ inches includes a thin margin.

An albumen photograph by Felis Bonfils (French 1829-1885) showing a group of dahabiya moored on Gezira Island with the original Kasr el Nil bridge over the Nile at Cairo showing in the background. The bridge opened in 1872. Dahabiya were boats for tourists cruising up the Nile to either Luxor or Aswan on trips lasting respectively about forty or fifty days. This large painting depicts two leaning palm trees just above a beach with two high tide lines of debris, curling waves and seagulls all under a sunny but partially cloudy sky. Signed, “A.
