Stoneware jar in the form of an orange with the registry mark for F & R Pratt of Fenton for 1878 on the base. 4 inches (10.2 cm) tall and 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide.

Condition: no chips cracks, hairlines or repairs. Minor staining and some tiny areas of paint loss.

A stoneware dinner plate with a shaped edge transfer printed in light blue with an elaborate floral border on the lip and an equally elaborate alpine view with flowers and chalet in the well. On the back a floral cartouche with the title, “Genevese” in the center and “Opaque China” on the lower edge with a script capital “A.” This pattern was made by Minton with the letter “M,” this plate was probably made by them with a different letter. A hand painted porcelain plate with a dark blue ground on the lip with elaborate gilding that extends to the sides of the well. A view of Loch Leven from the shore painted in the center. No marks on the back except “Loch Leven” in dark red enamel script. 8 5/8 inches (22 cm) diameter.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some minor scratches and the haziness of the painting could be caused by stacking wear.

A very well molded pitcher with floral decoration on each side, molded foot, lip and handle. Across the front of the pitcher and on either side of the neck are hand painted flowers, very much in the Adam’s Rose” style. This form of molded pitcher closely resembles those in porcelain of J. and R. Riley of Burslem. The body is very white, but isn’t porcelain. 8 3/8 inches (21.5 cm) to the top of the handle and approx. 6 ½ inches (16.5 cm) across the handle.

A large, heavily potted English pitcher with an applied strap handle. All of the strong floral decoration is handpainted except for the blue flowers which where the paint was stamped on with a cut sponge. Though it could be earlier the later date of circa 1880 is conservative. 7 3/8 inches tall, 9 ¼ inches across the handle.

Condition: Handle broken and restuck, glaze chips on the spout, firing flaw on the bottom, crazing, glaze chips on the spout and minor spots.

A group of three Staffordshire plates. The first a small (6 ½ inch diameter) pearlware plate with good handpainted roses and a solid colored border with lines and dots. The second plate (8 3/8 inches diameter) also pearlware handpainted with a border of small roses, leaves and ovals over two lines. The third a ceramic plate with a shaped edge (10 1/8 inches diameter) with a very bold free hand painted single Adam’s rose dominating most of the area. All are unmarked. Lacquer over wood picnic set in an open carrier; consisting on the top tier of a small rectangular box, presumably for utensils, and five small trays. Below them is a covered three tier jubako box. The black lacquer is incised in places and otherwise decorated with gilt and silver blossom sprays. A small copper/brass handle is on the top. Many of the edges are gilt. It is 9 5/8 inches (24.5 cm) tall, 9 5/8 inches (24.5 cm) wide and 7 ¼ inches (18.3 cm) deep. 20th century.

A large black lacquer box with gilt, silver, copper (?) applied colors and Mother-of-Pearl inlay on the top and lacquered interior. Some floral decoration to the sides. The box is 5 3/8 inches (13.5 cm) tall, 8 ½ inches (21.5 cm) wide and 11 inches (28 cm) deep.

Condition: the two short sides of the top have partially separated and broken the lacquer surface. Minor spots and wear.

A good sized Jubako box, with an extra lid, decorated in gold with flowering bamboo. The lacquer is applied over wood, the interior is red and the compartments have gilt top edges. There are four compartments and two covers. Each compartment is 3 inches (7.5 cm) tall. The overall height is 11 7/8 inches (30.5 cm). It is 9 5/8 inches (24.5 cm) wide and 9 inches (23 cm deep). Probably late 19th century.

Condition: Some minor wear, some spots on the lacquer and wear to the gilding on the rims. ...

A Japanese tankard with lid made for the Western market, or at least in the Western taste, with an Imari palette. Traces of the gilding are still visible. The blue is underglaze, the other colors overglaze enamels. 8 inches (20.5 cm) tall with cover and approx. 5 ¾ inches (14.5 cm) across handle.

Condiion: fair bit of wear including gilding mostly gone, a hairline from the lip part way down the neck, glaze flakes on the handle and two small chips on the cover.

Japanese porcelain high footed dish in the form of a late 17th century Nabeshima dish. This one is a fairly straight forward copy of one of a set of dishes at the Tokyo Museum depicting an old cherry tree with abundant blossoms, proably made sometime in the 20th century. Underglaze blue and overglaze enamels. 10 inches (25.5 cm) diameter and 2 7/8 inches (7.5 cm) tall.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs.

A hand painted porcelain Japanese bowl in the style of earlier Nabeshima high footed shallow bowls. The blue is painted underglaze and the green and brown are painted over the glaze in enamels. Bodhidharma was a Buddhist who came to China in the 5th or 6th century and is credited with the founding of Chan Buddhism which in Japan became Zen Buddhism. Andrew Thomas Schwartz (American, 1867-1942) oil on canvas of a hilly landscape with the morning mist rising off the more distant hills. A few evergreens, probably cedars, sit in the field that appears to be tan with autumn. The only sign of habitation is a low stone wall. A very similar painting though slightly larger was sold at Doyle in New York in 2006 titled, “Clearing, Morning, Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia” and dated 1912. Oil on canvas by Fred Pye (American, 1882-1964) of a wave crashing onto a rocky shore with whitecaps further offshore and a sunny but partly cloudy sky; in an elaborate white painted and gilt frame. Born in Iowa, studied in Paris Pye later lived in Cincinnati and painted in Maine. 26 x 36 inches (66 x 91 cm). Frame 32 ½ x 42 ½ inches (82,5 x 108 cm). Signed lower right in red Fred Pye. Based on the sticker on the back he was a member of The American Professional Artists League.

Oil on canvas of two horses eating cut greens with chickens pecking the earth nearby in a clean but slightly rundown curral (farmyard) under bright sunlight and with bright red blossoming tree behind the horses losing some blossoms. A large oil on canvas by Henry Charles Lee (American, 1864-1930) titled on the stretcher, “Winter Landscape” and signed lower left “Henry C. Lee.” He lived in Cornwall New York and in France, where he died. The stretcher had an old label for a French artist supplies dealer Lucien LeFevre-Foinet with the number 7350.
