An oil on canvas in a naive style of a line of deer walking along a gentle hill toward the top of a larger hill with the sunset and distant view of the other side of the valley. The painting was found in Shenandoah Valley though no record of, “A. Taylor” has been found. The tone of the painting is warm. While there are no give away clues as to the age between the late 19th or the early 20th century, it has a feel of being in the earlier part of that range rather than the later. It is 14 by 2...

Allison, Margaret Prosser American born 1913. Oil on canvas of a steam train in the foreground passing through a town with trees in full summer leaf. The unusual perspective and the color of the buildings are very effective. Ms. Allison taught at the University of Delaware during WW II and I suspect this painting dates from that period. Size 20 by 25 inches and with frame 23 ½ by 29 inches.
