The Karla Caves are a group of ancient Indian Buddhist rock-cut caves located in Karli near Lonavala, Maharashtra. The one pictured is the Great Chaitya. It was dedicated in 120 CE. A landscape albumen photograph of Darjeeling India. Titled in script in the negative, “534. Darjeeling. General view with the Snows(?) from Woodland’s Hotel.” Presumably, “the Snows” are the snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas that show more as a line of clouds, but are visible in the distance. A good view of sailboats at sea with some clouds, a stiff breeze and accompanying gulls. The painting is 17 5/8 inches by 19 ½ inches. With the frame it is 22 ½ inches by 24 3/8 inches.

A dark blue printed soup plate depicting in the center Saint Catherine’s hill in Surrey with fishermen and a boat on the River Wye. The back marked with an impressed Clews mark. Well printed and clear images. 8 ¾ inches diameter, 1 ¾ inches tall.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. A few minor scratches in the center of the bowl. Slight discoloration on the back.

A common form of pitcher made by the Tucker factory in Philadelphia around 1830. It is unmarked as is often true for Tucker, but the form is theirs, the decoration typical of their floral work and the gilding similar to other Tuccker pitchers. 9 3/8 inches (24 cm) tall.

A very well decorated two handled urn or vase with everted rim with a black background showing figures in classical garb around the main portion of the body and with elaborate continuous ornamentation, mostly in orange on the outer edges and handles. No makers mark or mark for the country of origin, but likely to be English (possibly by Samuel Alcock & Company). It might be French.
