A mezzotint printed in colors of a large Holderness cow, a type of Holstein Friesian. Printed on woven paper. The image is 18 by 24 inches, overall it is 24 ¾ by 30 inches and the mat is 26 by 31 ½ inches. The print, with dedication on the lower margin, depicts a large rectangular cow in front of a barnyard with a dog, cowherd and a well dressed man in the foreground. In the lower left below the image is printed, “painted by G. Gerrard.” In the center, “Pub. April 9th 1798 by G. Gerrard London” In the lower right, “Engraved by W.Ward.” Framed in old oak frame.
Condition; Clean image and fairly clean margin with a few small margin tears. Matted with acid free mat board and backed with acid free foamcore.
