A hand colored aquatint titled at the bottom, “A VIEW OUSCOTTAH, FROM AN EADGAH.” Underneath the title is, “Sold & Published June 4. 1804, Edw.d Orme, His Majesty’s Printseller, 59. New Bond Street, London.” In the lower left, “lieu.t James Hunter Delin.” and in the lower right, “Harraden Aquatinta.” This plate, numbered 26 in the upper right corner, is from “Picturesque Scenery in the Kingdom of Mysore,” by James Hunter. The building is a either a mosque or a Killader’s (Governor’s) Tomb. The wove paper is watermarked, “E&P/1801” in the upper right.
The sheet is 16 5/8 x 20 7/8 inches, the plate marks 11 7/8 x 14 3/8 inches and the aquatint including title and printer’s name, 10 5/8 x 13 1/8 inches.
Condition: generally good, never framed, but stored carelessly with rounded corners and one with a crease, a couple of pinholes in the image, a few foxing spots in the margins and a little roughness on the top edge.
