A large watercolor showing two pelicans resting on a wooden pier with a rusted mooring ring while in the distance a third pelican flies above them under a partially cloudy sky. The watercolor, heightened with gouache, is detailed and accurately depicts the pelicans. The overall size, with frame is 32 by 27 inches. The sight size for the matted painting is 23 by 18 ½ inches and it is painted on Bainbridge board. Below the ring on either side of the post is the title, “PELICANS” and signed and dated, “ROBIN HILL ’74.” In a narrow gold leaf frame.

Robin Hill, (AUS, USA 1932 -) is a well-known artist with a number of illustrated publications about birds. His works are in The Morris Museum of Art in Augusta Georgia.

Condition: The paper is toned from light exposure; the extent is visible from comparing the part covered by the mat with the part that was not. The painting remains bright and colorful.
