Imperial folio lithograph with hand coloring after John W. Audubon of a pair of Little Nimble Weasels in winter coats printed by J.T. Bowen 1848. This print was part of the three volume folio printed between 1845 and 1848 of the Viviparous Quadruped of North America. The sheet is approximately 22 x 28 inches (56 x 71 cm), the mat opening 18 ½ x 24 ½ inches (47 x 62 cm) and the oak frame 24 ¾ x 31 ½ inches (61 x 80 cm).
Condition: Generally good, it appears to have been rolled up for a considerable time and there is some damage to the edges and a little creasing, especially one in the middle. There is no indication that it was ever framed or displayed and the colors are very clear and subtle.
One of the best backgrounds to any of the quadruped lithographs.
