The reason why this bowl is so rare is the fact, that nearly all bowls of this kind of Medallion bowls are " Doucai " bowls on that the underglaze Cobalt - blue outlines of the decoration are filled with overglaze enamels. Sometimes there are also to find such bowls that do show the underglaze blue outlines only, which are for whatever reason still not filled with overglaze enamels. The decoration of such pieces somehow give an " incomplete impression".
Pieces like this bowl, on that the full decoration is done in underglaze Cobalt-blue are extremely rare to find.
Perfectly potted and finely penciled in underglaze blue with five roundels containing either flowering or fruiting trees divided by pomegranate sprays above a band overlapping leaf lappets around the base.
