19th century small carved Indian sculpture depicting a beautiful maid wearing sari and holding a covered box in her hand. Most probably figure represents one of the milkmaids with whom Lord Krishna frolicked in the woods. Wonderful quality carving, in perfect condition, earrings are made out of gold washed silver. Could have been part of a devotional set, fixed on the wooden stand. Height of the figure 2 1/8 inches, height with stand 3 inches.

Late Meiji (1890s to 1912) Japanese pottery kogo (box for incense during tea ceremony) of circular shape, its top decorated in low relief with various blooming flowers surrounded by lotus petals. Earthenware body with slight glaze and different color enamels, the inside is gilded and has residue from incense use. Stamped on the bottom with potter’s seal. 19th century Japanese book printed in ink and colors on paper, describing the early career of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, its title can be translated as “The first volume of the pictorial account of the Taiko”.
