19th century netsuke of Jurojin (one of the 7 Gods of Good Luck, usually associated with longevity) leaning on a bamboo staff, a crane (symbol of longevity) next to him. Wonderful carving, great smiling benevolent face, expert staining with body of the crane left unstained, good patina, the top of crane’s head inlaid with salmon pink coral. Himotoshi is formed by the legs of the bird, beautiful wear and patina.
