Late Meiji - early Taisho (pre 1920) Japanese scroll painting in ink and colors on silk depicting young Yoshitsune playing flute and Benkei drawing sword at the Gojo bridge in Kyoto, the scene illuminated by a full moon. Superb quality painting, excellent faces and detailing of clothing, silk mounts, bone scroll ends, in great condition. Lengthy inscription followed by artist’s signature HOKURYO YOSHIZAKI (1876-?), four red seals. Painting size 48 x 16 inches, scroll size 74 x 21 inches.
