Japanese scroll painted with ink and colors on silk depicting a court lady wearing superbly rich formal juni-hitoe (12 layers kimono) attended by a young girl, all among pine saplings and with a sun rising through the early morning haze. Superb quality sublime painting, perfectly captured delicate mood of the moment, beautiful use of color, wonderful brushwork (see depiction of pine needles, great composition in Japanese taste, the painting is in excellent condition, rich silk brocade mounts with pine needle motif. Signed in ink by KOKA URATA and marked with artist’s red paste seal. Painting size 40.5 x 16 inches, scroll size 74 x 21.5 inches.
