Rather unusual late 19th century Chinese glass seal in a shaped of a stylized rock. Beautiful transparent glass, excellent finish to the surface. The impression of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1 (photo is flipped left to right to present the image as it will actually print on paper). The bottom is crisply carved with four raised characters that can be translated as THE HALL WHERE KINDNESS is CULTIVATED, old dried red seal paste in the grooves. Very nice object for scholar’s desk. Height 1 9/16 inches, base 1 9/16 inches long.
