Ceramic chawan (tea bowl) for tea ceremony with sides gently sloping inside and enso circle shape foot. Nezumi Shino glaze with splashes giving a perfect impression of Mount Fuji partially obscured by clouds, superb play of colors in the glaze. Dark clay body and wonderful free potting, superb sense of energy to the piece. Made by American potter Robert Fornell (resided in Japan 1988-1996) inscribed with his monogram on the bottom. Great object in Japanese taste, in excellent condition. Maximum diameter 4 3/4 inches, height 3 1/4 inches.
