Early 19th century small Japanese cloisonne plate decorated on the front with two black ground roundels containing various flowers on a light blue “crackled ice” background interspersed with cherry flowers, all surrounded by a brocade border. Back is decorated with cherry flowers among karakusa (scrolling vines) on light blue ground. Most probably was used for tea ceremony, rare and early piece in terms of Japanese cloisonne, from the period of transition from Chinese to Japanese style, great for a study collection. Very pleasant matte finish with original pitting. Diameter 3 inches.
