Early 19th century Japanese bronze kozuka (sword knife) handle with relief decoration of numerous clam shells, all on finely textured ground called nanako, which means “fish-eggs” as it resembles fine rows of caviar. Great design and detailing with gilding and silvering, wonderful feel of age. Length 3 3/4 inches.
