This stunning platter titled METEOR by Massachusetts studio Glass Artist Charles Correll, signed and dated "Correll '85" is 19 1/2" diameter. The lavender plate has a polychrome meteor image in white, grey, red-pink and yellow. The execution is superb and this vintage beauty remains in excellent condition.

This handsome piece was created by studio glass artist Don Gonzalez by blowing hot glass into a sand mold made by the artist, resulting in a texture to the lower part of the vessel and three feet which elevate the bottom about an inch. Each foot is polished on the bottom. The piece stands 8" tall and 5" diameter. It is signed "Gonzalez". Don Gonzalez has been blowing glass since the early 1970s, starting at the Fine Arts Department at Carnegie Mellon, continuing at Sausalito Art Center, then maintaining his own studio in Stockton, NJ, for over 40 years. His work is carried in numerous museums across the country as well as in many private collections. He has been awarded 4 Fellowship Awards by the NJ State Council on the Arts as well as a Fellowship from the Creative Glass Center of America. This cast glass sculpture by Studio Glass artist Don Gonzalez, was created by pouring hot glass into a mold of sand. The color is melted into the glass while it is still molten at 2300F. After cooling, the piece is extensively cut and polished. Titled NAIADES SPRING, this contemporary Art Glass sculpture references the Naiades, the ancient Greek spirits of the spring, waterfall and other bodies of fresh water.
