A cluster of three buncheong stoneware bowls that collapsed on top of each other in the kiln. The bowls were recovered from the trash heap of an ancient 15th Century kiln in South Korea. This is an interesting shard in that one can see how the bowls were stacked and placed in the Kiln. One can also see the small pieces of clay that were separating the bowls and which leave what are called spur marks. The shard measures about 7 1/2" in diameter.

This large stoneware Shigaraki Bottle has a cream glaze, with green stripes that flow down from the neck and end just short of the unglazed stoneware base. The bottle measures about 16" high x 10" in diameter and weighs 11.7 lbs. The condition is excellent. There are two small chips on the base that occurred during the making of the bottle. In two places the glaze ran just a little too far and the bottle had to be chipped away to remove it from the kiln. The bottle dates to the Meiji period....
