A Large antique Korean faceted, ten sided, storage Jar with a matching lid. Such jars were a part of a Korean kitchen, and were used to store honey and molasses. The jar measures, with lid, about 9 3/4" high x 8 1/2" in diameter, and the mouth opening is 3 5/8" across. The lid appears to be original to the Jar. The Jar is in good condition. There are several chips on the underside of the lid, and around the mouth, and there is a 1/4" kiln crack on the mouth...

A Korean soapstone box that has a square section carved out for the ink pad plus space to store soapstone seals. The box is cut out of one block of red soapstone measuring about 4 3/4"w x 3 5/8"d x 3"h. The red block is marbled with white and gray grains and spots. The top of the box is inlaid with the Chinese character for double happiness. The condition is very good with no repairs. There are some small chips from use, and the largest loss is to the side of one of the feet...

A Korean lacquered box used to hold the ink stone and writing implements that were used during the Joseon Dynasty. Such a box was made by and for the common man or farmer and is a good example of Korean Folk Art. The box's lid fits over an inner tray where the ink stone and water dropper were kept. Below the tray would be stored ink sticks, paper and brushes. The box's finish is the original dark red lacquer, and the iron nails and straps are also original and hand made...

A small Korean lidded burial jar from the Silla Dynasty, United Period, 8/9th Century. The jar has an overall stamped design, and shows kiln glossing over its otherwise unglazed exterior. The jar with lid measures about 4 1/2" high x 4 1/2" in diameter. The jar and lid are in very good condition, but there are a few very small chips on the lids' rims. An individual eating table for serving the meal of the day or drinks and treats to your guests. This table measures about 11" high x 16 1/2" in diameter, and dates to the late Joseon Dynasty. The table has a solid, heavy, carved twelve sided, hardwood top (elm), and a softer wood (like ginkgo) was used for the supporting structures, legs and stretchers. A Korean Folk Art painting of two cranes under a pine tree. The crane is the emblem of long life which is a common theme in Minhwa. The cranes have been painted on mulberry paper using natural pigments mixed in a glue base. A large kitchen storage jar that was made in North Korea. The Jar is an example of Korean folk art, and it has hand painted blue and green designs on a white base. There is brown staining to the exterior and interior surfaces, where the contents (probably soy sauce) bleed into the stoneware. There are two side handles for carrying. A ten piece collection of Korean Silla Dynasty stoneware pottery, made during the 5th through 7th Centuries. Such pottery was found in all the Royal tombs of this period to include the Gold Crown Tomb and the Gold Bell Tomb. A large Korean brass bowl that was used for mixing and preparing food in the kitchen during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been shaped and formed by pounding the brass(wrought). The resulting hammering marks can be seen on the surface of the bowl. The bowl measures 4 1/2" high x 13 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. A brass wash pan that was used for personal grooming during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been formed by the process known as wrought, where the metal is worked into shape by beating it with a hammer. The hammering marks on this pan are clearly visible. These offering stands were used in Korea on a family altar to elevate offering to worship ones ancestors. These stands were owned by poor people and farmers, and they are good examples of Korean folk art. The largest stand is about 6" in diameter, followed by one at 5 1/2" and the other at 4 3/4". This small wood box contains a folding top panel on which is mounted a mirror, and a drawer for holding personal items. The box is constructed using pawlonia (kiri) wood on all sides with hardwood and pawlonia panels on the top. The box measures about 10" long x 7 3/4" wide x 5 1/4" high, and dates to the 19th Century. The condition is good. There is a small repair to one corner of the drawer. A 19th Century Korean kitchen jar for the storage of honey or syrup. The jar has a thick brown glaze, that thins at the edges of the cut facets, showing the lighter porcelain body of the jar. The Jar is heavily potted and measures about 4 1/2" high x 5" in diameter. The condition is very good with small chips on the inner rim and firing cracks at the bottom. There is no lid. A Korean brass bowl on a high foot and a brass box of the type that was used to decorate a family altar when worshiping their ancestors. The bowl was used to hold burning incense, and the incense was stored in the box. The bowl measures about 6" high x 6" in diameter and the box measures about 2" high x 3" in diameter, and both date to the early 20th Century. A large, heavy, Korean brass candle holder, consisting of six parts: (1)a base pan on which screws the (2)candle stick, (3)a small pan to contain the wax, (4)a bracket to hold the light reflector, (5)a fan shaped light reflector which is secured by bat shaped brackets on both sides, and (6)a candle snuffer. This candle stick dates to the turn of the Century, Yi Dynasty, and measures overall 32 3/4" high. The base pan measures 10 3/4" in Diameter x 2 1/2" high. The condition is excellent.
