This framed textile is a silk fukusa known as a “gift cover” is of two women harvesting tea, it is an exceptional composition that is well balanced with form and color and departs great beauty much like a painting– the women are exquisitely dressed in kimonos, and near their feet are a hat and basket that is finely embroidered with gold metal accents, tea plants have painted leaves, it is finely woven with painted and embroidered detail. A person in Japan had commissioned this as a gift cover. It was used to drape a gift. It is in a black frame. Age: 1930’s-1940’s - Size: 38” x 36 ¾” wide (overall) (96.5 x 93.3 cm)
