An Anglo-Indian Teak Campaign Chest with reeded decoration on the drawer fronts, it is solid Teak throughout including Teak backboards and Teak drawer bottoms, backs and sides, and with original brass binding, flush brass drawer pulls, nicely shaped brass keyhole escutcheons and with original iron drawer locks, and with sturdy original solid brass casters, this is a true classic. In two halves, consisting of two full width drawers each and with correct replaced brass lift handles, the bottom half has a nicely shaped base, this chest exemplifies practical portability which was its primary purpose. Used by British military officers, wealthy individuals on safari and London flat owners short on space, these chests were produced from the Late 18th Century through the Early part of the 20th Century. They were made in England, India and East Asia for use around the globe. Still practical, these chests are in demand today and this chest is a very rare small example. 36 1/4" H. X 15" D. 30 " W.
