Featuring a rare and superbly detailed antique Chinese 4 paneled hinged wooden screen, measuring 13" x13". Inlaid with 12 ivory plaques finely carved in scrimshaw fashion and then stained with polychrome colors. The 4 larger, central plaques, measuring 1" x 4", each depict very finely detailed scenes of several aristocratic Chinese women in a landscape and architectural setting. The other 8 plaques, measuring 1 1/2" x 1", depict various animals, including rams, rabbits, tiger,cat, and different birds. The wood screen is inlaid with silver wires on the front side surrounding the plaques. The back side is plain. Dating to the late 19th or early 20th century.
