Featuring a fine Golden Age Japanese 9.5" silver wire cloisonne vase with 3 panels on cobalt blue background. Fabulous detail. Circa 1890. One panel with cranes, flying over waves and standing on a rock with pine, another with wisteria, several birds and flowers, and on reverse, a bird perched on stump amongst irises and various other flowers. Condition: the metal bottom has been replaced and looks great, a repaired spot under rim in border(see photos), an area with stress cracks which are hard to see(see photo), and a couple of light rub lines. The vase displays well. The repair in the border under the lip of the neck is on the side and does not show when the panels are displayed on either side. The stress cracks and rubs are hard to see unless under a strong light. All and all, this is a great example of a great artist, probably Ota Tomasiro, at a fraction of the cost of a perfect cloisonne vase of this top quality.
