Presenting a very fine Japanese Meiji cloisonne enamel 3 piece teaset, consisting of teapot/cover, sugar bowl/cover and cream pitcher. Each piece is intricately decorated with thousands of cloisons(cells made from wires), from the rondels with iris, wisteria, hydrangea, various other flowers and pinwheels to the thousands of tiny wires in the background and elaborate borders. Green counter enamel on interior. Among the finest workmanship of Japanese cloisonne. Attributed to the artist Takahara. Dimensions: teapot: 6" wide with handle, 5" tall; cream pitcher, 3" wide x 3.25" high; sugar bowl, 4.5" high x 4.5" wide. Some features are similar to the work of Namikawa Yasuyuki. Circa 1890.
