A fine Japanese Meiji Satsuma 4 lobed shape box depicting a scene of a samurai procession within castle walls. All details outlined in raised gold. On both sides of interior are domestic scenes with women and children at various pursuits. Sides with profuse flowers. Borders of top of cover, side, and interior of lower portion with 3 different gold designs on red or black ground. Gold rims on interior. Carefully signed, Juzan sei, one of the top artists from this time period, in gold characters on black background and red and gold square border. Dimensions: 3 3/4" long x 2 3/4" wide x 3/4" high. Circa 1890. Satsuma boxes as this are rare and hard to come by with such fine workmanship and in pristine condition. No wear, damages or restorations.
