A rare, fine Japanese Satsuma miniature kogo(round box) depicting a scene on cover with 23 figures of noble men, musicians and attendants engaged in a court celebration with gift exchange, a shrine, banners and a ring of fire. A tiny, intricate geometric border encircles the scene, all in raised gold. The border of the lower half is a mille fleur pattern, colorful flower heads in many different colors and designs. Additionally, flanking the flower head border are intricate gold borders on either side. The interior of the cover is with a scene of 5 boys playing a stick and ball game. The interior of the lower half is of a boy with a top while a girl with a baby on her back and another boy observe. Signed Kinkozan Kyoto in blue and a hand written number on paper label. Also, signed Kinkozan in black and gold on Satsuma. Dates, circa 1890. Perfect condition. No restorations, gold loss, damages. Dimensions: slightly over 1.5" diameter,approximately 3/4" high.
