A top quality antique Satsuma double gourd vase signed by the master, Kinkozan. Excellent workmanship. In 2013, a larger vase by Kinkozan with some of the same type of art work sold at a major auction house for over $16,000. The two pieces were obviously painted by the same expert hand. This vase is decorated with two scenic panels. One panel is a domestic scene with tea ceremony items, antiques on a shodana and a beautiful flower arrangement of wisteria and basket. The other panel is a scene with a rooster, hen and profuse flowers. These panels are separated with more profuse mums in raised gold and raised enamel pastel shades. Further decoration on the shoulder and foot with gold bamboo on a cobalt blue background. At the top neck of the gourd are 16 petaled chrysanthemums, the imperial crest. This crest was only used on imperial pieces as gifts from the emperor. It is possible that this is an imperial gift/piece as was the piece at the auction. Painted by one of the best artists and perhaps, by Kinkozan himself as the vase sold at the auction is signed Sobie VI(which is part of Kinkozan's name). Dimensions:5.5" high x 4" diameter, a great cabinet size. Signed with the impressed mark of Kinkozan. Condition: mint. No damages, gold wear, restorations, damages. All original. Rare workmanship and shape. My photos do not do justice to this wonderful piece. Satisfaction guaranteed or money back. Return privilege, providing item returned in sent condition, within 3 days of having been received, and the way it was packed if possible. Sales tax charged if sold in NY state unless valid NY sales tax form provided that is signed with buyers name/business and tax number. Please inquire if more/better photos are desired. Thank you for looking.
