Very unusual and beautiful fine silk weaving of lake scene in China. The weaving looks like a painting, finding its origins in Beijing China. The silk work was all finely hand worked by splitting the silk threads up to 40 times each, layer upon layer for depth. Some water color was used in the trees, water shadows and mountains. There are Chinese characters woven in the sides. The scene is probably the lake of the summer palace near Beijing. The detail is just fabulous. Would be magnificent framed. Dates to the late 19th early 20th century. I have not seen anything like this before. Very good condition except rip on left corner. This could be repaired or folded under and would not be obvious if framed. Last photo shows reverse side. Measures 47" long x 10 1/2" wide. Please feel free to ask for more photos or ask questions. Also would be interested in hearing about information on translation of characters. Satisfaction guaranteed or money back. 3 day return privilege providing item returned in sent condition. Postage/insurance extra. New York state buyer pays their local sales tax on item and shipping unless valid tax number and resale certificate provided.
