A 12" unusual Japanese Imperial yellow ground double gourd Satsuma vase with artistic and beautiful design that resembles Japanese raised gold lacquer. The continuous scene of birds, butterflies and peonies continues around the top half of the gourd also, set apart by colorful geometric designs in different patterns. Excellent condition with no damages, restorations, or cracks. Well cared for over the last century+ and dating from the Meiji Er, around 1870-1880.
