Featuring a dramatic blue and white Japanese Hirado studio porcelain plate with a dragon and a mythological 4 footed supernatural beast with horns, hooves and a tail, possible an unusual form of a Kirin. Both animals are facing each other with fierce expressions. Dates to the late 19th century. Measures 8 3/4" in diameter. Surface wear and scratches but displays well. No cracks, chips, or restorations. The other plate listed that is similar to this one (that is sold) is bigger and slightly different from this one.
